                                         GEOGRAPHY 

  is located in the central-western part of the Italian Peninsula on the banks of the Tiber River in the Lazio region of Italy.

editerranean climate prevails in Rome characterized by dry and hot su
mmers, and humid, cold winters. During the warmest months of July and 
August, the average temperature during the day is 30 °C while at night, it is
 18 °C. In the coldest winter month of January, the average day temperate is 12 °C, and that at night is 3 °C. Heavy snowfall is extremely rare, but light

                              OLD BUILDINGS 

   THE COLISSEUM  

 the Colosseum was commissioned around A.D. 70-72 by Emperor Vespasian of the Flavian dynasty as a gift to the Roman people.  

     By the 20th century, a combination of weather, natural disasters, neglect     and vandalism had destroyed nearly two-thirds of the original Colosseum,      including all of the arena’s marble seats and its decorative elements.
